So is the law applied the same...............Don't think so !

I wrote a piece last November about an incident where a group you young Muslim chaps burned poppies infront of people commemoration Remembrance Sunday............as a mark of a protest against British troops involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Well the chief burner so to speak was up in court and well guess what....The moron who burned the poppies at the Remembrance Day service gets a £50 fine and outraged a nation.

Emdadur Choudhury

London Evening Standard wrote:- The Prime Minister told the Commons that a "stronger statement" should have been made to show public disgust at the man's action.
"I think to many of us, you look at something like that and feel that we should be making a stronger statement that the sort of behaviour is out of order and has no place in a tolerant country," he said.

Now a guy who burns a Koran in protest gets a 70 day prison sentence.

Cumberland News
- A man who burned a copy of the Koran in Carlisle city centre was today jailed for 70 days.

Andrew Ryan, 32, of Summerhill, off London Road, was accompanied to Carlisle Magistrates' Court by supporters carrying a St George's Cross flag who were chanting "We love you England".

Ryan had pleaded guilty to racially aggravated harassment and theft of the Koran holy book from Carlisle Library at an earlier hearing.

Ok it wasn't his Koran, he stole/borrowed it from the library, however that normally involves just a fine not a custodial sentence, but 70 days for outraging Muslims whilst the moron who burned a poppy and outraged the nation gets only a £50 fine?

The word disproportionate seems to apply here. After all if some idiot artist can put on display a bible to be defaced and has nothing done to them. Then this guy should surely have expected the same, save I suppose that he didn't call it art.

I suspect Andrew Ryan will end up a hero in some quarters, despite the theft, I have to admit I don't like the idea of burning books, but I can see his motives, sadly though I now know the cost of freedom of expression and that's 70 days in jail.

Muslim Protestors Burn Poppy During 2 Minute Silence

Here is the totally abhorrent image of the Muslims Against Crusades (MAC) demonstrators burning a large scale remembrance day poppy during today's 2 minute silence.

Further coverage with the G.O.T

The MAC are a splinter group of the (supposedly) banned British muslim fanatic organisation, Islam4UK fronted by Anjem Choudray. That'll be him pictured in the black hoody then.

Give me fucking strength.

Many more images and reactions are available in this Daily Mail report, if you can stomach them.

See Here

Incidentally, haven't seen any coverage of this on the BBC although I dare say if someone were to burn the quoran or a bunch of lefty fuckwits were to smash up Tory HQ .... it'd be somewhat different, eh.

Anjem Choudary and Wootton Bassett

I have been watching with a keen eye the developing story of Islam4UK and the attempt to plan a march through Wootton Bassett.

This may shock a few of you!!!!!

The Longrider has a great post on the subject.

Others have been discussing the plans for Andrem Choudary and his band of militant Islamists to march through Wootton Bassett. There has, as expected, been a range of opinion about how to deal with this eventuality. Indeed, on the BBC news, I watched as local politicians talked openly about banning it. The prime mentalist even got in on the act.

‘The Prime Minister’s view would be obviously that anything that is considered to be offensive to, or of concern to, families of troops wounded or killed in Afghanistan would be completely inappropriate.’

So, welcome to Britain, the land of free speech. Free speech means allowing speech that you find offensive – and, let me restate it for those who are a little slow on the uptake; there is no right not to be offended. I also wish I had a pound for every time some fuckwit used the term “inappropriate”. This is modern code for “needs to be banned”.

Sure, I share NickM’s opinion of the nauseating Choudary, a man who wants to exercise his freedom of speech but would, given the opportunity, deny it to the rest of us.

I think I tried to be polite but only managed to use the word “cunt”. I may have prefaced that with the word “utter”.

However, vile, obnoxious cunt though he is, Andrem Choudary must be allowed to voice his opinions. Out in the open, we can see him for the vile, obnoxious cunt that he is – sunshine being the best bleach. Let the world see and revile his views, let him remind us what waits for those who would find themselves living in his desired Caliphate. And, let us remind ourselves that freedom of speech means just that – freedom to speak openly, no matter how vile those opinions, no matter how upsetting, offensive or “inappropriate”.

Here, I am in absolute accord with Obnoxio:

It’s very fucking easy to defend free speech when it’s in line with your own thinking, but it takes a set to defend it when people are saying things you don’t like.

So, those libertarians who claim to value freedom of speech, but would deny it to Andrem Choudary, take note. Freedom of speech means freedom of speech for everyone, whether it is Islamofascists or Nick Griffin, no matter what iniquitous dogma they spout. If Andrem Choudary’s free speech is stifled today because he is an extremist, yours and mine will be stifled tomorrow, because we, too, are extremists in the view of the centre-left mainstream social democrats.

Of course, there is the question of how to deal with it. The best, most effective way would be to completely ignore it, for the media to fail to turn up and cover it, for the streets to be empty and the shops closed and shuttered, to deny Choudary his audience and the oxygen of publicity – for it is publicity that he seeks. Unfortunately, that ain’t gonna happen. The media cannot resist the opportunity to report, so Choudary will get his fifteen minutes no matter what – indeed, he is already basking in notoriety.

Given the dignity with which the people of Wootton Bassett have shown during the return of the fallen, perhaps a similar dignified response should be shown to Choudary. Line the streets and as the marchers approach, silently turn their backs on them. Show Choudary and his little band of nutjobs some healthy disrespect. It’s nothing more than they deserve, after all. And that’s the rub, we can use our freedom of speech to express disapproval, to remind Choudary that we will not submit to Islam, that we are better than he is.

The high moral ground is there for us to seize. Will we? Or, as is more likely, will we squander it?

I am scared though. Scared the far right will seize this for a fight. The BNP, EDL SDL or someother group of mindless morons will then get headlines for all the wrong reasons and Choudary will be vindicated in his world.

I do not want the march banned because Choudary is a Muslin. By holdng it in Wootton Bassett he has clearly showed is true colours. He is though spoiling for a fight. He is looking for it.

Uighurs rally to mourn Xinjiang dead

I posted here with regards to China and how it issues with regards to the Uighur community and in particular what may happen if this Islamic group start to make a noise.

Well China seems a little quiet right now but the Uighur community in Kazakhstan have come out in screaming support.

Hundreds of Uighurs rallied in Kazakhstan's largest city Almaty on Thursday to mourn those who died in violent clashes in the neighboring Xinjiang region of China last month and to call for its independence.
Kazakhstan is home to the largest Uighur community outside China. About 500 people, many wearing the blue badges with white crescents of the Uighur independence movement, gathered at a mosque for a traditional ceremony.

In Xinjiang's worst ethnic unrest in decades, Uighurs staged protests in the regional capital Urumqi on July 5 following a clash among migrant workers at a factory in south China that had led to two Uighur deaths.

The Urumqi violence left 197 people dead and more than 1,600 wounded, mostly members of the China's ethnic Han majority, according to Chinese authorities.

Han Chinese launched revenge attacks on Uighurs in Urumqi days later. About 1,000 people, mostly Uighurs, have been detained in an ensuing crackdown by security forces.

Han migration into Xinjiang, home to Muslim Uighurs who speak a Turkic language and whose culture has strong links to Central Asia, has helped fuel the conflict.

"What is our goal? We want an independent state," Kakhraman Khodzhaberdiyev, a vice president of the U.S.-based World Uyghur Congress, told the Almaty meeting.

"The current autonomy (of Xinjiang) is not real and we demand that its status be changed as a first step."

Another Uighur community leader, Abdulla Ushurov, attacked what he said were Chinese attempts to portray Uighur protests as purely criminal riots.

"You cannot say that a group of people just started crushing everything," he said.

"These are being described as criminal acts but it is a century-long fight for independence."

Also worth noticing that the police in neighboring Kyrgyzstan, also home to a significant Uighur minority, detained two Uighur leaders after a similar rally this week, saying it had not been given official permission.

This is starting to grow now..........it may end in tears.

A Taliban Rule Book

The Pakistan led military offensive to clear the Swat Valley in Northern Pakistn has led to a surprising discovery.

A Taliban Rule book of code of conduct.

Both the US and Afghan military officials dismissed the document as propaganda, calling it hypocritical.

This is a how-to guide as to what is acceptable and what is not. For instance: “A brave son of Islam should not be used for lower and useless targets.” What does this mean? Crudely, kill soldiers and other “high value” targets and avoid civilian casualties.

It also says "all mujahideen must do their best to avoid civilian deaths and injuries and damage to civilian property." And it says that mujahideen "should refrain" from disfiguring of people, such as the severing of ears, nose and lips.

"Mujahideen must be well behaved, and treat the people properly, in order to get closer to the hearts of civilian Muslims," the code said.

There is to be a reduction in suicide bombings, again to avoid killing civilians; Taliban fighters are not allowed to discriminate against people based on tribal roots, language or where people are from.

This code also reinforces a strict hierarchy: only provincial commanders can agree to prisoner exchanges and prisoners must not be released or exchanged for money.

Only Taliban supreme leader Mullah Omar, or one of his deputies, can give the order to execute NATO soldiers, senior Afghan army officers or government officials.

And so it goes on. You get the meaning. This code of conduct is to show that the Taliban is a disciplined force, instead of a brutal force, one fighting for the people.

This isn’t new of course: the Taliban has issued similar codes in the past. What is interesting is that this new one is being issued at this time.

Now, most of this is aimed at Afghanistan — but it applies equally to Taliban in Pakistan. Indeed the booklet was produced and released from Pakistan.

So why..........what is it about, personally the release of this book is an attempt to reach out to the so-called “good Taliban” — the militants they can work And this book apparent discovery comes as Afghanistan heads to a new presidential election in a couple of weeks time.

An attempt to reach out, an attempt to say hey we know you are not all bad. Sadly too many hardliners in that group to ever make a ploy like this work.

Uighur Unrest

I posted this last Wednesday.

I thought that the Chinese crack down on Uighurs may spill into a situation that China is not well versed for handling with the utmost of sensitive natures.

Well reports in the Telegraph this am make me think it may well be stepping up a bit.

I quote:- Chinese police arrest more than 300 in Urumqi
A further 319 people, the majority Uighurs, have been arrested in the Chinese city of Urumqi in connection with race riots that left almost 200 dead at the beginning of July.

The arrests, according to the state-run Xinhua news wire, came a few days after 253 people were rounded up. A further 1,000 suspects were detained in the immediate wake of the riots.

The Uighurs are a local Sunni Muslim minority that the Chinese government blamed for much of the violence in the far Western city.

"Every suspect, without any exception, will be arrested and punished according to the law to root out any hidden danger," Xinhua said.

This may well get very messy as the marginalised Islamic community feel again more persicution. However I feel the way China handle things means the issues may occur here. We may find local Chinese businesses etc in the West being the target for Islamic retribution.

I hope I am very very wrong.

Islamic Riots in China????

The Ranting Penguin posted this a few weeks ago when the Uighur situation was at its height and a few riots were kicking off in China.

Please see here.

Well he may be not too far from the truth if this story is to be believed.

Now I have no way of proving this 1 way or the other.

China is world renowned for its lack of tolerance and its somewhat dubious human rights.

But my point being, right or wrong once this story has been pumped into the hands of a few fundamentalists, and few islamic chaps get the words bent a bit, can you see the Chinese allowing a bit of home grown terrorism to spring up?

Well with their record of dealing with a few protests in the past, and the methods they employ, that would make some interesting stories now would it not?

I think someone is stoking the fire a little, and it might get messy.
