A Crying Shame !

Unless you are a police dog.

Its with horror that we learn on Sunday .......... staff at a Metropolitan Police building were alerted to two police dogs having been left in an unventilated private vehicle.

The two dogs were found on in the back of the trainer's own car at the Met's dog training centre in Keston, Kent.

Entry was forced to the vehicle and two Metropolitan police dogs – a working Belgian Malinois (shepherd) and a German Shepherd puppy were found in a state of collapse.

Both were taken to an emergency vet where they subsequently died.

An investigation by the Department of Professional standards into the circumstances of this incidence has begun.


Horrific ........... temperatures inside the vehicles would have reached in excess of 50°C in under an hour. The animals stood no chance at all.

Now my rant is simple ........... and no its not the fact that 2 animals needlessly suffered and died. That is a given. I care for most animals more than I do people but that's for another day.

My rant is the handler.

You see the officer in this instance is a certain Sgt Ian Craven. Nothing odd in that except when you look into it Sgt Craven has a disciplinary on his record in 2004.


What for ??????

Well ....... The death of a dog in his charge!!

So I ask the question why was he still a dog handler?
Why was he still in charge of animals?

Does the police not view the life of the dog that serious ........... clearly not !!

A precedent has been set ... These deaths follow those of two German Shepherd police dogs, which died in a hot car outside Nottinghamshire Police headquarters in July 2009.

Police dog handler Pc Mark Johnson was given a six-month conditional discharge after he was found guilty of animal cruelty in relation to the deaths of the two dogs.

We also learn that following these deaths Sgt Ian Craven, 49, flung himself from a police vehicle he was in and was then declared a missing person. Source.

The officer was found in Newham, east London, with hand injuries. He was still receiving medical treatment last night, police said. But he has no injuries other than that.


OK IMHO Sgt Craven is totally at fault. A complete lack of care and basically a lack of brains. Sgt Craven should never have been in the dog unit post the death in 2004 of a previous animal. He is under investigation, and I trust is removed from post with immediate effect.

Personally I hope the CPS act quickly and swiftly. Sgt Craven is not above the law and as such is not immune from its actions as a result of wearing a uniform.

Kerry McCarthy MP

Kerry McCarthy................what is it about this woman that I detest with every ounce of fibre of my being.

Its nothing to do with the Labour Party.
That's too easy.

Many Labour Party members actually impress me as individuals........but I do tend to think the bulk of them have since retired from Politics now.

She got off lightly with her election antics on the postal vote in Bristol.

No..........there is something about the Twitter Witch that would mean I would not be able to stop slapping her until the Police dragged me off in handcuffs.

Old news now but the fact she has once again shown her colours of raging stupidity by stating that all men in the Greater Bristol Area should be DNA tested to assist in the hunt for Joanna Yeates killer.

Now....a hideous crime and I for 1 hope the boys in blue catch whoever did this and they face the full weight of the law.

You may say .......Ah!!! but the DNA testing will assist.

OK lets look at that further shall we............or in this case Al Jahom has written a top piece and I quote.



If a man were to refuse to submit to DNA testing, does McCarthy think he should be arrested, and if so, on what charge?

On what basis can McCarthy assume that no woman was involved in this crime, which she must since she only wants men to be DNA tested?

Why so certain that the culprit(s) live in the Bristol area?



And now, let’s consider the likely costs and logistics of such a scheme.

250,000 men to be DNA tested.
I’m going to take a blind guess at the cost of £600 per test, based on the cost of the lab work, as well as police time, administration etc.
(I have to assume significant police time would be involved in collecting and processing samples, due to the requirements of the rules of evidence, in the event of any prosecution based on a DNA match.)

So, the cost then. 250,000 x £600. That’s £150 MILLION. A snip, I think you’ll agree.

But how long would this ambitious endeavour take?

Not an easy question to answer, but consider the bottlenecks:

Locations for collecting samples.
Space to properly store samples.
Police officers available for collection and processing work.
Capacity of laboratories to work accurately and consistently on the samples.
This last one is a particularly interesting one, since it’s been shown that different labs can easily return different results based on samples of the same DNA, that there are flaws in the process, and miscarriages of justice as a result, that the human element always introduces some degree of error, and that there are intrinsic statistical reasons why accuracy of testing will diminish across a larger sample group.

From 250,000 men, the police could still end up with a shortlist of thousands.

So how long would it all take? 1 year? 5 years? Well… finger in the air again:

240 working days a year. 1000 samples processed a day. 250 days – just over a year.
But…1000 samples a day? Hardly possible, is it? To collect that many, let alone process them, is absurd.
So lets say 200 samples a day. That means the process could take over 5 years.
Will the police sit on their hands, waiting for a 5 year process to come up with a shortlist of (say) 2,500 men?

I think not.

So, in conclusion, can we agree that Kerry McCarthy is a fucking idiot?

Being honest...............If someone wants my DNA for crime purposes.........show me evidence I did it, arrest me then take it.

You are not harvesting my DNA to hold on records "Just In Case".

This is a free country and we remain free until proven in court we should not be!!!!!!

1 additional question............what you going to do with all the DNA samples and records after the killer is caught???

Our previous government before this coalition mob had grand ideas about the ID card and the kiddies DNA base from birth.

Sgt Mark Andrews cleared of assault........................WTF...How???

Sergeant Mark Andrews, who was caught on CCTV assaulting Pamela Somerville at Melksham police station in Wiltshire, has had his earlier 6 month jail sentence quashed after 'winning' an appeal today.

What. The. Fuck!
I must be seeing things then because the judge at Oxford Magistrates Court has now said, after a four-day hearing, that he was satisfied Sergeant Andrews did not intend to throw Ms Somerville into the cell and that the injuries she suffered were probably caused by falling down the stairs or the door frame.

I have just read about the most absurd anti-terror tactic now to be emplyed by our police and government.

Basically anti-terror police are to monitor nurseries for Islamic radicalisation.

In an e-mail to community groups, an officer in the West Midlands counter-terrorism unit wrote: “I do hope that you will tell me about persons, of whatever age, you think may have been radicalised or be vulnerable to radicalisation ... Evidence suggests that radicalisation can take place from the age of 4.”

What evidence..........who you expect to see a child looking like this, with a hat on like this ?????




The police unit confirmed that counter-terrorist officers specially trained in identifying children and young people vulnerable to radicalisation had visited nursery schools.

We then learn that Norman Bettison, Chief Constable of West Yorkshire speaking from his booze club oooops sorry I mean on behalf of ACPO on the Government’s anti-terror strategy, said that the officer’s e-mail was a “clumsy” attempt to explain it.

'But the email says they have visited already.............this is a policy they are acting on !!!!!!!!!!'

But they are not..........we see that every day.

The Conservatives are committed to directly-elected commissioners with wide powers to hire and fire chief constables and to set budgets and policing priorities in England and Wales.

Sir Hugh, the former Northern Ireland chief constable who took over as Acpo president earlier this year, insisted that there should be no perception of political influence in policing.

''Operation independence is absolutely critical,'' he said. ''Even the perception that the police service of this country - a British style of policing which is so important - is under any political influence, I think that suggests you cannot argue that you are a proper democratic society. It's as simple and as stark as that.

''We should not be influenced by anyone who has any potential or suggestion for a political basis.''

Sir Hugh suggested that some chief officers would resign rather than accept the Conservative plans.

''I would not be surprised to see chief officers not want to be part of a system where they can be told how to deliver policing,'' he said.

Asked if he would quit, he said: ''I don't, sadly, have a police service anymore. But if I was a chief officer and was subject to direct political control, I absolutely would.''

We need an elected body.
The police need to be accountable.
They currently are not.
They are loose canons who shot folks on trains, beat the crap out of newspapaer sellers, allow feral youth to run neighbourhoods.

They get crapped on by government paperwork and targets.

When an elelcted body who was responsible to the people would theoretically ensure that the wishes of the people would be carried out.

Police Pay

Senior police officers are receiving “off-book payments” and secret perks totalling hundreds of thousands of pounds, including private school fees and cars for their spouses.

This is reported in yesterdays Times.

But not just cash, it is being reported, that it also includes schools, perks for wives, to list but a few.

Now in the last couple of years quite rightly the Police have come for some harsh critism.

Today the chief police booze club meets........I of course am referring to ACPO.
This article is to be a hot topic at this meeting me thinks.

Now ACPO is England Wales and Northern Ireland.
We here have ACPOS..................

A few interesting comments in the article and I quote;-
The pay deals are the subject of fierce disagreement among chief police officers and officials.

Sir Ken Jones, the retiring president of Acpo, said: “If people feel that the pay scales need to change then they should be openly renegotiated. These payments effectively lock people into a particular force and inhibit movement and development.”

Another senior officer told The Times: “We should not have such secrets in the Police Service. This works totally against the idea of equal opportunities. You have to be part of the inner circle.”

Reading the article some senior officers are on a huge wedge, and the thing is like MP's the salary and payments are all negotiated by themselves in a sort of a way i.e. with their own authorities.

Now I for one do not doubt for 1 minute that ACPOS use the same method of salary negotiation with their relevant authorities so the sceptic in me feels the same standards of chief police pay is going on right here as well.

I think we should get it all out into the open like in Canada.
They have a system whereby if you are paid from the public purse and earn over 100K Canadian Dollars your salary is published.

Since its public money I have no issues with a policy of that nature.
After all an easy google search will show what rank and file officers in the police, people in the military, nurses etc are all earning.

Self regulation...........leads to self abuse
