Whats our reserve????
On the 23rd February Parliament set the maximum numbers of personnel to be maintained for service with the Armed Forces during the year ending 31st March 2011. The figures break down accordingly:
Service.................Regular....Reserves....Total
Navy/Marines.......42,550.....19,205......61,755
Army...................124,030....97,355......221,385
Air Force..............47,400.....13,680......61,080
The total combined number of Armed Forces personnel expected to be in service during the financial year ending 2011 stands at 344,020.
A number of observations can be made from these figures. In terms of the regular Armed Forces, the combined total represents an extremely modest increase in personnel compared to the previous year. By 2011, it is anticipated that 213,980 regular personnel will be serving in the Armed Forces, compared with 212,430 in 2010.
By comparison, the number of reserves anticipated to be serving with the Armed Forces is much more alarming. The combined total of reserves anticipated to be in service for the year ending 2011 is 130,240. This figure represents a continuation of the decline of reserves since the beginning of the 21st Century. According to The Military Balance, the number of reserves within the Armed Forces throughout the decade was:
Year......Total
2000......302,850
2001......247,100
2002......256,750
2003......272,550
2004......272,550
2005......272,550
2006......241,520
2007......199,280
2008......199,280
2009......199,280
Th key messages is that the reserves have played a significant part in operations in the not-so-distant past and will continue to do so in the future.
Whilst the Ministry of Defence may dispute The Military Balance’s figures, the declining number of reserves is likely to impact on the scope of all future operations, including the regular Armed Forces.
So are we actually in good shape??????.............God forbid the Falklands gets messy again...however I feel that is a long way off despite the sabre rattling.

Brown at the Chilcot Whitewash

Todays sees the greatest liar and most ineffective man in the history of British politics take the stand at the farce that is the Chilcot enquiry.
Namely 1 Gordon Brown.
Kevin Maguire of the Daily Mirror and much kisser of the labour rectum was weak in his comments about this event on the BBC this am.
I feel even Kevin has had his day with Gordy.
Much has been said at the enquiry but I am particularly looking forward to what Brown has to say in view of the statements from Clair Short, geoff Hoon and Jack Straw.
They gave a bigger punch that Al Campbel or the Nu-Labour new non-dom Tony "my kids are Irish" Blair.
Anyway I will quote and steal from the lovely Subrosa her post and give my readers a little extra food for thought!!!
I Quote:- Today Gordon Brown will appear before the Chilcott inquiry at 10.ooam.
A former chief of the defence staff, General Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank, said that soldiers lives were lost in Iraq and Afghanistan because Gordon Brown failed to fund the Army properly when he was Chancellor.
"Not fully funding the Army in the way they had asked... undoubtedly cost the lives of soldiers. He should be asked why he was so unsympathetic towards defence and so sympathetic to other departments," said Lord Guthrie.
The Chilcot inquiry has heard that defence chiefs threatened to resign after Mr Brown ordered defence cuts six years ago while troops were fighting in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
For the first time the Ministry of Defence allowed a photographer into the C17 transport plane as the bodies of four British servicemen were brought home from Afghanistan. The above coffin contains the body of Sergeant Paul Fox who was repatriated to RAF Lyneham this week. I wonder how many politicians feel uncomfortable looking at photographs such as these. They managed to deter our dead being repatriated with dignity from Iraq giving various excuses. Let me say there was no dignity for our dead from the Iraq war coming home. Our political leaders wanted the whole issue to be swept under the floorboards of all media outlets. Fortunately, with pressure from many, at least our dead are now given a solemn and honourable return home.
We fight, according to our political leaders, to protect the security of these islands, but so few of us believe this because we know the reasons are nothing to do with securing the safety of the people of these islands.
Gordon Brown has been central to the mire we have found ourselves in and has used our armed forces for his own ends, not for ours. I will be watching this morning.
TLOTF feels that if only Robin Cook was still alive. The 1 man of principle. The 1 man who could IMHO blow the Chilcot enquiry wide open. The 1 man who could have challenged Brown for leadership and left him bleeding on the streets. But sadly he is not. Sad for us but a huge sigh of relief for the current and immediate past leadership.
Indeed yesterday 4 soldiers were repatriated back to the UK and again the beautiful town of Wootton Bassett held its now customary ceremony of respect. An act far greater than anything our current government has ever done.
Go to hell Brown and take Blair, Campbell and the rest of you Labour parasites with you.

Why The Hell Would you Vote Tory????
Sometimes you have to come back from the brink and say your piece!
Watch the video and make your own mind up..........Why vote Tory??
The man has absolutely nothing !!!!!!
Dear David,
Your understanding of the words "modern" and "radical" are a little shaky.
I thought, when I clicked "play", that I would indeed hear something modern and radical.
Instead, I find myself consumed with indifference.
What a let down.
Who told you that the NHS is the single most important thing to Britons? Even I can fix the NHS overnight. What you need is wire wool and Dettol. Lots of it. Buying in bulk will offer great discounts. Clean the hospitals. While you are at it, clean out all the petty paper-pushers for whom we closed down hundreds of wards to accommodate. There must be many thousands of "target chasers" that we don't need. What we need are good cleaners and good nurses. Now that would be modern.
The economy? Yes it's in a mess, and no, it isn't your fault. As much as I want to say it's all Gordon Browns fault, I cannot. Look south-east, to a tiny little city. They call it Brussels. In this tiny place you will find thousands of unelected people, whose sole job is to a) separate us from our cash and b) drown us in new statutes and unwanted regulation. Dump the EU and we are on the road to recovery. Now, more than ever before, (one of your favourite soundbites, I believe), we need to retract. We need to withdraw. We need to lick our wounds and rebuild our economy. No point looking to Brussels for that help. Our relationship with them is clear: we send them billions, and they send us legislation. Get us out of Europe, pronto. That would be radical.
Law. Hundreds of thousands of statutes, regulations, and statutory instruments bog our country down. Repeal them all. We only need one law: do no harm. It covers everything. The courtrooms of the last thirty years morphed into places of business. Justice is the last thing I would expect if I were ever to land up in a court. Massive changes are needed to restore our faith and our trust. Just in the last few weeks we learnt that a woman who stole £1 MILLION from her employer walked free. A Lord who killed someone whilst texting someone else when he was behind the wheel, left gaol after just 16 days. Yet a man called Nick Hogan, whose only crime was to allow people to smoke in his bar was gaoled for SIX MONTHS! He should be released immediately and apologised to. Change our justice system to reflect common sense and build (rebuild) the foundations on common law. Now that would be both modern and radical.
In fact, reform the smoking ban and you will immediately inject life into our failing pub industry. At the last count, more than 50 pubs per week are closing down, with average job losses at 10 people per site, isn't it time to get modern and radical with a smoking ban reform plan? You will gain the respect of 12 million people in a heartbeat. Restore choice. Do it now.
Climate change. Distance yourself from this fabricated nonsense as soon as you can. Each week reveals more and more lies. The modern way, the radical way, to approach science is to have datasets that tell the truth. Right now our scientists have sold their souls for research grants. Reinstate integrity and honesty and let's all deal with real issues, not ones that were dreamed up to scam money out of gullible politicians who really ought to know better. They con you out of money and guess who pays? That's right. Joe Public.
We are sick and tired of bailing out governments with all the spending ability of a two year old gerbil. Cut waste. Lose ALL the quangoes. Cut off ALL charities that are so clearly fake. Start with ASH. They generate around £15K per year rattling tins, but get half a million from the government just by looking sad and holding out their grubby little paws. That would be modern. That would be radical.
Cut the PC crap. You say in this disappointing video that you have or will increase to 60 the number of female MPs. Box ticked. You have increased the number of black MPs. Box ticked. You have increased the number of Asian MPs. Box ticked. Here's a clue Cammy: Labour have been ticking boxes for thirteen years. Look where that got us. I have nothing against females. I have nothing agains blacks. I have nothing against Asians. But get this, if white middle-aged heterosexual men can do the job better, hire them instead. As the meerkat says, simples.
Use all of the above, improve on it if you can. No charge will be issued from Ranty Barracks.
But for the love of all things holy, don't try and tell us that your band-aid solution for a gaping wound is going to help anyone.
Get my country back from the unelected, from the unaccountable, from the clinically insane lickspittles in Brussels.
Then understand that major surgery is needed. Not platitudes.
Do that, Mr Cameron, and I will help you all the way.
Do it not, and you will fail. And I will use every atom I possess to help ensure that you fail.
Think on.

Au revoir bien pour le moment de toute façon
I am tired and hacked off.
I have been away ............ mainly work and indeed a month has passed since my last posting. Yes my career was my choice.......but once it meant something!
However my return has not been quite what I expected.
Not an issue from friends and family...........they were as happy as ever, but sadly not me.
I cant explain it.
I am tired.........not in the mood.
This blog was a steam vent.........it failed!
My posts have been a mixture of cheap jokes and extreme rage........not even meaningful.
In fact my blog opened me to other blogs, other peoples rages, other people thoughts.
Many I did not agree with many I did........but 1 thing emerged and that was my utter hatered for what my country has become.
My loathing of our government, its systems, its lies.
Oh do not get me wrong the Tories are no answer, the Lib Dems a joke.......they are what they are....politicians, career politicians, members of a class that believe it far superior than those of us who are not.
When you are away and you actually feel a return to home is not your first choice you have issues.
Sadly I feel this right now.
But I am home and now I must turn my attention to other things.
Sadly this blog is retiring for a while.........not that it made a difference to anyone, but I feel it let me down. Others can carry on and indeed do it better than I did.
Allow me a last couple of quotes please:-
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences.
C.S. Lewis
You face a corrupted governmental system that has torn asunder the contract between the citizenry and the citizen. They wage economic, social, and cultural warfare against you. They propagandise your children, they condemn your parents to end their lives in poverty, and they have seconded you and your children’s future prosperity and security to the whims of the equity adjusters. We are a meritocracy no more. The transcendental terrorists masquerading as your public servants will level the playing field. The equity adjusters and their allies will continue to beat you to death with democracy."
Washington Rebel
I am devoid of ideas right now...........I am sitting watching my land go down the pan.
Will screaming fix it........NO
Another Manchester style Police barrier will appear at the end of my road if I do.
Our fiscal deficit will still rise
Our servicemen and women will continue to die in a war based on lies and under funding.
646 people will hold 60 million to ransom everyday.
Immigration will remain out of control
Feral kids will still roam the streets
Taxation will continue to rise
Iain Dale will continue to write his blue bollox.
NO I can do nothing.
With this fab pic from Capt Ranty .......... I have fired my last shot.

World's First Life-Size 'Sexbot' Unveiled

OMG
When is it going to end.
The world's first life-size "robotic girlfiend" has been unveiled in the United States - and she's even more "user-friendly" than previous models.
See Here for full story
Roxxxy, complete with artificial intelligence and flesh-like synthetic skin, has taken out-of-luck lovers by the shirt collar at an annual adult entertainment show in Las Vegas.
"She can't vacuum, she can't cook but she can do almost anything else if you know what I mean."
That is how Douglas Hines, president of manufacturer TrueCompanion, described the £4,000, 5ft 7in rubber doll.
I am horrified..................No nothing to do with fact its an artifical female, but the quote here
"Sex only goes so far, then you want to be able to talk to the person,” Mr Hines assured.
NO YOU DONT...............You pillock!
"She's a companion. She has a personality. She hears you. She listens to you. She speaks", Mr Hines went on to say.
Oh dear me !....You could have the ideal invention there but you have gone and blown it now.....excuse the pun!!!
Alastair Campbell in the witness box: this time, the truth........bwahahahahahaha

As I write this piece a certain Malcom Tucker based individual namely Tony Blair’s former press secretary, Alastair Campbell, gives evidence to the Chilcot Whitwash sorry Inquiry today.
High on the agenda, one hopes, will be his involvement in the famous September 2002 weapons of mass destruction dossier. As an aide-memoire to readers and having used info from Andrew Gilligan, I detail below the main, shall we say, inconsistencies about which Mr Campbell should (but probably won’t) be asked.
Mr Campbell’s claims:
1. In evidence (Q1092) to the Commons’ foreign affairs committee (FAC), he claimed: “The entire document was the product of the pen of the Joint Intelligence Committee chairman [John Scarlett].”
2. Campbell also claimed: “The allegation… that I, or anyone in Downing Street, exaggerated and distorted intelligence…is totally untrue.” (para 9 of his memo to the FAC.)
3. Campbell or his deputy, Godric Smith, repeatedly claimed that there had been no political interference whatever in the dossier. For instance, at the Downing Street press briefing of 4 June 2003 (on page 6 of this PDF): “The dossier was entirely the work of the intelligence agencies… Suggestions that any pressure was put on the intelligence services by No 10 or anyone else to change the document were entirely false.”
The reality:
1. The foreword of the dossier was written by Campbell, as this memo of 17 September 2002, a week before publication, makes clear. In his own evidence to the Chilcot Inquiry a few weeks ago, Scarlett himself belatedly admitted this too. The foreword was where the dossier’s most incendiary statements appeared, such as the claim that the intelligence on Saddam’s WMD was “beyond doubt.”
2. The 17 September memo also shows that Campbell suggested 15 changes to the executive summary and main body of the document to Scarlett. Most were accepted and their effect was to harden up the document’s language from possibility to probability, or probability to certainty.
3. Among the most serious: following Campbell’s suggestion in the memo, a false statement, unsupported by intelligence reporting, was inserted in the dossier that Saddam had continued to “make progress” with his illicit weapons programmes.
4. Campbell lied to the FAC about the contents of the September 17 memo, giving them only a bowdlerised version (see here, item eight) which omitted his comments on the famous “45-minute” claim and downplayed his intervention on most of the other issues.
5. Campbell, in his own words, “bombarded” Scarlett, demanding that he make Iraq’s nuclear programme look more threatening. His suggestions were largely included in the published dossier even though they were not supported by intelligence.
In the September17 memo, Campbell told Scarlett that he and Blair were “worried about the way you have expressed the nuclear issue” – namely, that it was not made to seem alarming enough. (This was in fact the truth. As Chilcot has heard, British intelligence was quite clear before the war that Iraq was many years from a nuclear weapon and in no sense a nuclear threat.)
The following day, Campbell emailed Scarlett, saying that he had showed the draft dossier “cold” to a member of his staff who had been left (correctly) thinking “there’s nothing much to worry about” over the nuclear issue. “Sorry to bombard on this point,” Campbell says, “but I do worry that the nuclear section… as currently drafted, is not in great shape.”
The day after that, Campbell emailed Scarlett again, suggesting the insertion of a totally false claim, that the “the timelines [for Iraq obtaining a nuclear weapon] are considerably shortened however if Iraq manages to obtain fissile material illegally from overseas. In these circumstances, the JIC assessed in early 2002 that they could produce nuclear weapons in between one and two years.”
After some resistance by Scarlett, this fabrication duly appeared in the dossier as: “We therefore judge that if Iraq obtained fissile material and other essential components from foreign sources the timeline for production of a nuclear weapon would be shortened and Iraq could produce a nuclear weapon in between one and two years.” (Dossier para 23, page 27.)
6. Most meetings on the dossier were attended by spin-doctors and some were actually chaired by Campbell, something which even Lord Hutton criticised.
These are far from the only interventions by Campbell - and he was, of course, far from the only Downing Street political appointee to interfere in the dossier process. Significant interventions were also made by other Downing Street and Foreign Office spin-doctors and by the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, Jonathan Powell. Powell is up next Monday – we might have a look at some of his handiwork then.
Campbell will not be troubled by the inquiry board. He is an accomplished liar and far to intelligent to be outsmarted by that group.
He does not care about the fact both the evidence and the bulk of the public know the doc was sexed up.
However the question is how does he sit knowing that he has blood on his hands. Not just the deaths of British Servicemen and women so that Blair could play patsy to Bush but the fact that a certain Dr David Kelly also paid with his life......See here.
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE............Gordon Brown was involved in decision-making says Alastair Campbell................Oh bugger me its gonna get even more messy now.....spin machines gone up a gear!!!!!
