LotF, when the lads/lasses are brought back to the UK, is their coffin carried by their regimental pals or a special kind of 'undertaker' section of the logistics corp for example? Strange question to ask I know, but I heard someone say something about it this week and I missed the answer.

Rosie,

Of all the repatriation ceremonies I have attended it is the task of the regiment of the service person.
Task is an incorrect word I hasten to add I would be honoured to carry for a colleague.

However for the case of the RAF usually that falls on the RAF regiment.

The same for the Marines and usually the regiment of the departed.

However certain regiments sizes or specialist units use a ceremonial undertaker as you say.
Most individuals when on theatre duties are officially "attached" to a parent regiment.

So you can see how it unfolds. So you are correct on both counts.
